I dreamt I had to drive a huge distance to get to work, seven hours each way. The landscape was gorgeous: vast deciduous forests, rivers and lakes, even a ferry crossing, and picturesque villages and harbours. It seemed a little like Central Ontario but was less rocky and more gently rolling. The roads were good and straight.

Then suddenly I was driving through a golden meadow with a hazy halo over it. It was a bumpy ride and their was no road. At first I thought I had fallen asleep and left the highway. Then I woke up (still within the main dream) and realized I had been dreaming. To my relief, I was still on the road.

I thought, "That's it! I can't do this commute anymore."

When I was much younger, long journeys were a frequent theme in my dreams. These were often exciting and vividly beautiful. I hope this signals the theme returning.

Last night I started dozing while sitting at the computer. As is often the case, I started dreaming a continuation of something that happened during the day. I was conversing with Emily at the party for Gilda.

Thank you, Nancy. I post more regularly on my nature blog, Speed River Journal; you can also subscribe on LJ. I have been using it to practise skills and advance my platform as a freelance writer, so it is less personal than this journal. That endeavour has been absorbing a big chunk of my creative energy, but I am still here.
