The house has been pretty quiet lately. [livejournal.com profile] djjo has been busy long hours with a homework assignment for his spinning course. Due to a minor health issue, my tush is disinclined to be sat upon. Between time on my feet doing housework and cooking, I have been spending some quality time in bed with my smartphone. But the good excuse to relax has quickly become boring.

My new morning ritual is going really well. I started Monday and pretty much fell into it; did it without hesitation or deliberation every day except yesterday. I'll take a break from it on Saturdays because we go to farmers' market first thing. Variable routines are better. I haven't been doing the optional activity, just the yoga, indoor gardening, making tea and writing three points of gratitude. It takes less than half an hour.

It does challenge me, though. Being thankful requires some thought. I have to think of current, meaningful, real things. It's exactly the kind of exercise I need to avoid starting the day in a rut.

Gardening, too. Now that the houseplants have been tended, the budding sweet potato planted, the worms fed and the Christmas tree taken down, I am running out of obvious things to do. This will force me to be creative and make some plans, which is the whole idea.

While taking a bath this afternoon I ordered some seeds from Richter's Herbs. I don't know where we'll be living this summer, but regardless of that I want herbs in pots or a garden. The package should arrive within 10 days and keep me busy for a while.

I made the order on my smartphone while taking a bath this afternoon, just because. The Richter's website is not optimized for mobile viewing, so it provided additional training in patience. That seems to be a theme right now.

I was denied access rights to view the entry on your morning ritual. :o(

I think I need to start meditating. I will have to look into local groups, or figure out how to do it by myself. I do have a CD at home somewhere, so I should probably start using that.
