Heaven and Earth
Apr. 14th, 2015 10:49 amHeaven and Earth
Crush them! Crush them! Smother them blue!
I would drown them with rain for the evil they do.
Sky, what is the hour? You woke me.
It’s dark.
Stop lying about, you lazy bones rock.
Shake them, shudder, awake them to shock.
Darkness clings to my skin, each wart and hollow.
I am in a dream. Each plant and creature,
every spinning corpuscle
sleeps with me.
You split personality, a-spin in your bed!
No one can tell if you’re living or dead,
Mercury one side, the other half lead.
You cannot know the fire in my heart.
Memory so shallow! Don’t forget I’m your mother.
From depths of space I brought you together.
Hypocrite sky, no parent to me.
Long after time had spun my body
you became.
You are all of me I couldn’t hold,
no more than a pretty fart.
Pollution! Pollution! See you’re on their side.
From beginning of time you betrayed me and lied.
You’re a fumer of fumes, and that is their guide.
I am a maker. Don’t quarrel with me.
They fill me with poison but then demand breath.
Just wait, I’ll put you and your children to death.
You are a vapour, always flying.
Don’t you understand there is no death, no ending?
Even inside me the furnace grows quieter.
Someday I and my siblings will fall asleep
with no more blustering atmospheres to perturb us.
This is now. This is today.
I will not waste time while you get in my way.
Here’s a city to flood. Here’s hell to pay.
Send your winds, drop your fire, do as you wish,
but you know better than to unleash my fury.
In one flash I can tear apart their greatest achievements.
So do it. I see how your patience wears thin.
Erupt. Heal yourself. Burn the pox from your skin.
And in the same outburst burn you away!
But too much work.
It’s more my nature to shelter these—
parasites, if you will.
Their minuscule efforts at creation amuse me.
They are caught in my bosom.
You speak of constancy,
yet change faster than anyone.
Tomorrow you’ll forget your rage.
Deceiver, you always mislead me with ease,
ensnare me in mountains, I snag in your trees.
Blow away.
Sigh on the water.
Prism of light.
Collector of meteors.
Stillness of night.
Crush them! Crush them! Smother them blue!
I would drown them with rain for the evil they do.
