FIRSTS
First best friend: Jill Peterson, who I always kissed good morning in kindergarten.
First real memory of something: I remember hiding behind the living room furniture and messing my pants while I was supposed to be toilet training. I must have been less than two.
First date: Sarah Jarvis, the grade 12 prom, spring 1981. We dated until the grade 13 prom then drifted apart.
First real kiss: Vicky McKague, who lived a few doors away in my house in residence at university. Fall 1982. I was 18.
First Break-up: Vicky McKague. Fall 1982.
First Job: Harrow Agricultural Reserach Station, summer 1983, tobacco root rot research.
First screen name: silvan
First self purchased album: Can't remember, but my first three CDs, purchased at once in about 1988, were Glenn Gould performing Bach's Keyboard Concertos, Copland Conducts Copland (Appalachian Spring, Rodeo, etc.), and Schubert's Trio in B-flat Major, performed by the Suk Trio. There was a fourth, which I can't remember. They're still three of my favourite CDs.
First funeral: "Aunt" Lucy, my father's French-Canadian nurse, and who came to houseclean and babysit me once a week. She died suddently of phlebitis. I was about five, and too scared to look in the coffin, glimpsing only the edge of her pink nighgown.
First pet: Snoopy, who was half rabbit hound and half beagle, and looked like the real thing. We got her when I was 3.
First piercing/tattoo: Left ear, for my birthday when I turned 32, shortly after I came out, from a boyfriend, Bruce.
First credit card: Visa
First true love: I fell in love with my wife, but by her own admission she never loved me. My first deep requited love was Dan Vanderburg, November 1996.
First enemy: my grade 6 home room teacher, Miss Ronnie Riberdy.
First big trip: The first one I remember was Florida in 1967, for my third birthday.
First Concert: My parents took me to see the Windsor Symphony from an early age. The only popular singers I have heard in concert are Kenny Rogers, The Beach Boys and Buffy Sainte-Marie.
First Musical: My parents took me to see the Windsor Light Opera from an early age. The first movie I saw in a theatre was The Sound of Music, in 1967.
LASTS
Last big car ride: It takes a long time to drive anywhere in Southern Ontario. Relatively large was Summer 2002: Manitoulin Island, north of Lake Huron, and Kilbear Provincial Park.
Last kiss: This evening, my friend Bob C.
Last good cry: I can't remember. It has been months, maybe more than a year.
Last library book checked out: I haven't checked out a book in years.
Last movie seen: Sister Act on video, I haven't been to the cinema since last spring.
Last beverage drank: a glass of Sambuca before dinner, then a glass of Apelia with dinner, Bob's treat.
Last food consumed: calamari
Last crush:
djjo
Last phone call: Bob M., this morning.
Last TV show watched: Queer As Folk, in June.

Last item bought: other than food, some postcards on Sept. 5.
Last annoyance: a debatable bylaw at the Chorus's annual general meeting, hashed over with Bob in the phone call this a.m.
Last soda drank: some fad thing with hemp in it, last Thursday.
Last ice cream eaten: Breyers Classic mint choclatey chip shared with my daughters on Sept. 27. The last bit is still in the freezer.
Last time scolded: I don't remember anything recently. I received a particularly tactless scold from my mother when I was in hospital on morphine recovering from surgery last October. In response I called her a jerk and hung up on her.
Last shirt worn: a charcoal grey t-shirt
