Sylvie and Jon
Sep. 28th, 2003 01:02 amThis is the first picture I know of, of me with my best Guelph buddies, Sylvie and Jon, taken at tonight's wedding.

We became friends during the past two seasons of the Rainbow Chorus. We're lucky we even connected, all three of us are so shy.
Sylvie and I knew each other for about eight months but hardly even spoke to one another until at a social gathering we discovered we both loved playing Classical piano. In fact we found so many interests in common, we became fast friends. Our temperaments are similar, so we also became confidants.
Jon moved to Guelph in spring 2002 and joined the choir to meet new friends. We connected right away because we're both gay fathers from evangelical Christian backgrounds.
We're three gentle souls who take life more seriously than we should. We root for one another. The past two years have been the happiest and most stable of my life. These two are an important part of the reason.

Date: 2003-09-28 08:52 am (UTC)Sylvie is the closest I have to a kindred spirit. I might have two or three others, but they don't live close enough that we can get together whenever we want to. Despite all the good long-distance friendships I have, there's no substitute for a hug and hanging out together. It's even more important than seeing eye to eye on everything.
