As Brenna and I departed for Toronto yesterday afternoon, a heavy mist decended. It provided an interesting atmosphere for photography. The dampness was cool and refreshing. The first three images were taken in the countryside between Guelph and Campbellville.

Arriving in Toronto we stopped at the western beach for a walk and some pizza. As an emerging sun slowly evaporated the mist, it turned the day into a regular Ontario pressure cooker.

We met Monique, who took Brenna shopping on Queen Street for craft supplies. Meanwhile I went to a doctor's appointment. By the time I had finished, the heat was oppressive. A teenage girl had fainted on the stairs down to the subway.

This afternoon Brenna and I went to Rockwood Conservation Area, a peculiar little park full of glacial potholes. Its limestone cliffs are nowhere near as magnificent or wild as the granite precipice Marian and I explored in Algonquin Park last week, but beautiful in their own way. Rockwood is barely a 15 minute drive from where I live. In many ways I do not miss owning a car, but I do long for a time when I can make excursions like this anytime I want.

Brenna and I swam in the lake and explored the potholes. Then she swam some more while I spent a few minutes with Hairy Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which I started reading for the first time last night. I have already finished books 2 and 3 this month.
