CD collection
Jul. 1st, 2006 08:27 pmI realized Danny won't return from Michigan until tomorrow evening, and I was tired, so I decided to come home for the night and head into Toronto tomorrow. My CD collection has been in terrible disarray since time immemorial, so I spent the afternoon tidying, organizing and counting it. This seems as good a way as any to spend Canada Day.
The tally:
- Classical/Orchestral/Choral/Musicals: 181 CDs/sets
- Popular: 73 CDs
I've also broken them down by composer/artist.

All but about 20 are store-bought. Most of my Classical collection predates 1996, while most of the others are more recent.
My best collections are of Brahms, Chopin, Mahler, Schubert, Sibelius, Tchiakovsky, Vaughan Williams, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, and Rufus Wainwright.
I could use more Beethoven (sonatas and quartets), Mendelssohn, Mozart, Arvo Part, Stravinsky, John Tavener, Judy Collins, early Madonna and Joni Mitchell. I'm still missing quite a few artists that interest me, like Jane Siberry, Elton John, Alanis Morissette, Jem, Blondie, and Barenaked Ladies. I had some Tori Amos, but apparently it's lost.
