I haven't buzzed my head since January 28. Danny took this photo today to chronicle how it looks after 78 days. I plan to keep it this way for a while, but that means finding a barber again.

Jaye suggested not using shampoo at all. It works for him but not for me. My hair is simply too oily, and starts to drive me crazy after three days. Besides, I quickly develop dandruff no matter how often I scrub. Any kind of shampoo prevents this. I would have though dandruff resulted from using the wrong kind of shampoo, but not for me.

However, I've discovered that using only about half a teaspoon of shampoo once every second or third day, enough to barely develop a lather, does not strip all the natural oils, leaving my hair shinier and softer. From about age 12 to 35 I bought into the clean freak society, followed the instructions on the bottle every day, lathering my hair up once, rinsing, then lathering a second time. Now my barely-clean hair feels much nicer, and a bottle of shampoo should last all year.

I've also discovered the best way to prevent acne on my face and back (at age 43) is to avoid the use of soap there altogether. The rest of my body still calls for standard treatment.
