Date: 2005-12-14 12:49 pm (UTC)My inlaws serve their pate (Acadian version of tourtiere) plain, and it's always wigged me out. It needs veggies on the plate to make it not seem so bland and thunky (yes, thunky is a word!). May I suggest some sauteed spinach or other green, or maybe some carrots glazed in honey and brown sugar - something vaguely sweet to counter the meat and pastry.
For dessert, maybe some shortbread cookies - unless that hits your pastry overload button, then maybe something light such as poached pears?
