Bon voyage

This morning I drove Sylvie to Pickering, an eastward suburb of Toronto, whence she has begun a 10-day bicycle trip to Ottawa. Bon voyage, mon amie! Now I must prepare for my own departure tomorrow morning to work eight or nine days on David and Jane's cottage in Point Clark, near Kincardine.

Funny how Sylvie and I started a garden together thinking that one of us could look after it whenever the other took holidays, and now we're both away at the same time just as zucchini season begins. Fortunately, Jaye and Christine offered to look after it.

I probably won't have much internet access while I'm away, but I'm looking forward to taking scads of photos along the Lake Huron beach. I'll see you in 10 days.

Yes, I almost wish I was a cyclist! It would be a great adventure.

I've recently started biking to and from work every day, and I have to take a fair amount of stuff with me - but looking at all the bags and packs she has attached to that bike makes me legs wince. Still, I guess that's what you need if you're going on a ten day trek. And it sounds like a lot of fun.

Maybe after you get back from your own trip we can finally catch up a bit. :) Be well, handsome.

She had 40 lbs of stuff. She said that was a bit much, and that she probably could have packed less food, but this was only her second long trip and she wanted to err on the side of caution (i.e. take more than enough).
