Dad has a drug-resistant super-bug, specifically methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. I just spoke on the phone with one of his doctors in Leamington, and she said they have started him on the antibiotic vancomycin, which is sensitive to the infection. They will transfer him to London as soon as a private bed is free. Visitors have to wear gowns and gloves.

also, my aunt in windsor had a MRSA infection a few years ago. it took a while with aggressive treatment, and they did eradicate it.

I offer this in case it's a tidbit that will help even a little bit with the worry.

Thanks, Love. I will stay in Guelph until he gets transferred to London. We don't know when that will be. Feeling a bit antsy. I'm going to go out for a couple hours and do some writing. Talk to you later.

Hi Love, just this moment I got a call from my aunt to say the ambulance is picking up Dad in 15 minutes. So I am packing and heading to London shortly, staying with K tonight. Talk to you soon.

Hello, Van - Became aware of your wonderful blog through QueerJoe's. I've been following the ups and downs of your Dad's health for awhile and am truly sorry to hear of the problems he's been having since his operation. I hope that he does okay and that you do alright, too. Blessings to you both and know that people who've never had the honor of meeting you in person are still very concerned. Take care. - Joe, in Wyoming

Thanks, E. I had a little visit with Dad this eve and he seemed pretty good, though it's a shock to see him so slow and tired. The surgeon checked the incision and said he doesn't think the infection got inside, which is good news. Hopefully a couple days of rest and antibiotics will have him back to normal.
