I used the light box this morning. It made a much better start to the day.

Actually I started feeling better yesterday, as soon as I decided to resume using it, which makes me wonder what's really going on. Am I tricking myself? I don't care, as long as it works.

This evening I spoke with a friend who has used one for several years, and he says he continues until the weather turns nice, usually late March or early April.

Isn't the whole point of the light box to trick yourself? As long as it works, keep doing it.

I'm glad. I wanted to comment on your post the othe day when you said you were stopping, only I didn't get it done - just to say why not keep on as long as it helps and as long as there is still that morning darkness!

My first thought was that you should would want to wait at least until the equinox. But I have never used a light box, so I have no real idea :)

That's good news for you. I think stopping using it and having trouble and then starting it again and feeling better is extra proof that it really works for you. I talk Glucosamine and Condroitin for arthritis and when I do I have no pain; several times I've stopped it and within several days I have some pain again in my fingers. Then I restart it and it is gone. This gives me extra confidence that it really works for me.

I'd use it as much as you feel like! It's not like it's going to be doing anything negative for you. I miss the light here as soon as the mornings start to get a bit grey (i'm from a more tropical climate).

never argue with the placebo effect

...although I don't think that's entirely it; you're farther north (away from the equator) than I am, and it's still pretty grim-grey here. If you're getting up at 6:00 or so, it is still dark.
